TWO TEAMS, 23 STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN NJCAA ACADEMIC HONORS

Charlotte, NC – On Monday (July 11), the NJCAA released its annual Academic Team and All-Academic honors recognizing the scholarly achievements of its member schools and student-athletes. In all, Macomb had two teams and 23 student-athletes recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom over the course of the 2021-22 academic year.

ACADEMIC TEAMS OF THE YEAR

Two Macomb sports, softball and women's volleyball, earned the distinction of being named an Academic Team of the Year in their respective sport for posting a team GPA of 3.00 or above for the 2021-22 academic year. Softball led all Macomb sports with a 3.47 team GPA, while women's volleyball checked in with a 3.02 team GPA. (Complete List)

NJCAA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM HONORS

As part of Monday's release, the NJCAA also announced the 2021-22 All-Academic Teams, recognizing student-athletes for their dedication in the classroom, and 23 Monarchs joined a list of 9,912 student-athletes across the association who were honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60 while passing a minimum of 24 credit hours. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

While 23 Macomb student-athletes earned All-Academic recognition, two Monarchs qualified for NJCAA All-Academic First Team status after achieving a perfect 4.00 GPA: Rayonna Armstrong (women's basketball) and Kara Lewicki (women's volleyball).
