What a day for Riley Fisette! The freshman out of L'Anse Creuse North helped will the Monarchs to a pair of victories Friday (Sept. 2) at the Owens Invitational behind 22 kills in two matches. Fisette slammed down 10 kills in the win over Cuyahoga and followed that up with 12 in the triumph over Edison State (.340 hitting % on the day).

The countdown continues as sophomore libero/defensive specialist Khloee Stoll chips away at Macomb's all-time career digs record. Entering the season, Stoll was only 560 digs shy of breaking the record after posting 729 in her freshman campaign. With 144 digs on the season, Stoll is now 416 away from becoming the career digs leader at Macomb!
A busy week ended with mixed results for Macomb Volleyball as the Monarchs went 2-3 overall while playing away from home against a defending national champion, the five-time defending conference champs and other tough competition. The week started with a setback to Mott to open league play and ended with an even 2-2 record at the Owens Invitational Friday and Saturday.
ABOUT THE 2-0 DAY FRIDAY
After admittedly not playing their best to start the week, the Monarchs bounced back with authority to open Owens Invite play Friday in Perrysburg, Ohio. The Monarchs came out with a point to prove and did so with a pair of four-set wins over fellow NJCAA Region XII counterparts, Cuyahoga and Edison State, behind an engaged, all-in effort from the entire team.
LEADERS THRU SEVEN MATCHES
Here's a look at a few individual leaders as of Sept. 5: Haile Polisano leads the way in two categories with 48 kills and nine aces ... Chante Hudgins checks in with a team-best .182 hitting percentage (min. 10 att.) ... Becca Weiss' 89 assists are tops on the team ... Khloee Stoll has a team-leading 144 digs ... Jordan Turner has a team-high 40 blocks.
A BREAK IN THE ACTION
Only one match is on the slate over the next 10 days as the Monarchs take on Oakland Community College (OCC) this Wednesday on the road. After the OCC match, the Monarchs will have a break in the action until the following Wednesday (Sept. 14) when they host Schoolcraft.
A LOOK AT: OAKLAND CC
The coaches' pick to win the MCCAA East this season, the OCC Raiders enter the week with a 4-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. After tying for the MCCAA East crown a season ago, the Raiders earned the most votes/first place votes in the preseason poll and have started off strong behind three players earning over 30 kills through five matches this season.
THIS WEEK IN MONARCH HISTORY
In this edition of "This Week in Monarch History" we head back one year to highlight a pair of wins from the 2021 season. Wins over Lawrence Tech JV and Concordia JV on Sept. 8 and 9 helped the Monarchs improve to 3-1 on the young season at the time. Natalie Husson went on to earn MCCAA East Player of the Week honors after posting 19 kills with no errors in the two victories.
